Weekend News Editor

TheWrap is seeking an experienced weekend news editor for its Los Angeles newsroom (we will consider candidates who work remotely). The weekend news editor would join our edit desk and be expected to edit and assign copy as well as to write stories for the site, leaping on breaking stories in the media and entertainment news space — and looping in editors and staffers on major news events. The weekend news editor will own TheWrap’s weekend coverage, overseeing the workflow of the entire site on Saturdays and Sundays.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic and capable of multitasking in a breaking news environment. Wire service experience is most welcome. An eye for finding engaging stories, especially during breaking news lulls, is key.

Required skills:

At least 3-4 years of experience working in a professional newsroom
Top-notch line-editing and copy-editing skills
Superior news judgment
Passion for Hollywood industry news and its players
Proficient and speedy on a CMS such as WordPress
Image editing and social media skills, including crafting social media copy and posting on Facebook
Salary range:$65,000 – $100,000
