China Coal, Gas and Power Correspondent

Reuters is seeking a dynamic reporter to help drive our coverage of China’s coal, gas and power markets as well as the closely watched energy transition in the world’s top coal producer and emitter of CO2. Based in either Beijing or Shanghai, you will report on China’s coal market and the challenges it faces in balancing its energy security with its climate pledges as well as climate-related shocks such as this year’s drought that hit hydropower generation. As part of the China energy and commodities team, you will also cover the country’s gas market, investment in grid infrastructure and the mega wind and solar farms that have made China the world’s fastest growing renewable energy market. The successful candidate will be a proven source-builder with strong story instincts and an eagerness to build expertise in the world’s biggest energy consumer, delivering outstanding coverage for both specialist and general readers. The reporter will also need to be a team player, working closely with colleagues in Beijing, Shanghai and across the globe.
