Thomson Reuters Foundation has been selected to set up, host and run a Secretariat function to support the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC). The MFC is a partnership of 50 countries working to advance media freedom, strengthen the safety of media practitioners, and to hold to account those who harm journalists. The MFC was established in 2019 at the Global Conference for Media Freedom. The Coalition has a diverse range of stakeholders including the High Level Legal Panel, UNESCO and the Consultative Network. More information about the MFC can be found at mediafreedomcoalition.org/ The Secretariat will work with the current MFC Co-chairs, the Governments of Canada and the Netherlands, the High Level Legal Panel, UNESCO and the Consultative Network, to facilitate and promote the work of the Coalition, providing comprehensive administrative and communication support. The Secretariat is being established as a standalone unit hosted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) under the umbrella of its Media Freedom Programme. The Communications Manager will report in to the Head of the MFC Secretariat.
