Reuters is looking for an experienced and driven journalist with a passion for breaking news and writing ahead-of-the-curve stories on India’s booming technology and social media landscape. India is a top growth market for companies ranging from Google to Apple and Microsoft to Facebook and it also serves as a major outsourcing hub. Based in Mumbai/New Delhi, the reporter in this role will focus on tapping industry executives, civil society groups, regulators and big tech companies to write breaking news and in-depth stories on the rapidly transforming tech sector in Asia’s third-largest economy. The position is a key role in a country where startups are becoming bigger by the day and big tech companies are pouring in billions of dollars in investments. At the same time, foreign tech companies are battling a host of regulatory, antitrust and other privacy-related challenges in India where smartphone and internet use is growing by the day. The role will extend beyond just breaking news about the tech sector and the reporter will be encouraged to write analytical and deeply-reported stories about some of the world’s biggest companies operating in India and the growth of domestic outsourcing giants.
