Would you like to write and edit for the leading journal and expert commentary texts in the UK employment field? We are looking for a Senior Editor in the IDS team, which as part of Thomson Reuters provides expert information services to UK law firms and barristers, the employment judiciary, in-house lawyers, trade unions and HR professionals.
Working as a Senior Editor in the IDS team, you’ll be writing and editing content for both print and online publication, and will be responsible for maintaining existing content and ensuring that all content is of the quality and scope that meets business objectives and customer needs. After gaining experience, you are likely to be assigned overarching responsibility for aspects of the content and publication of particular IDS product offerings and will participate in wider business product development strategy.
About The Role
In this opportunity as IDS Senior Editor, you will be responsible for:
Researching, writing, editing and delivering well-written, up-to-date content for IDS print and online publication that reflects current market legal practice and is of the quality and scope that meets the business objectives and needs of customers.
After gaining on-the-job experience, devising print and online publication schedules and ensuring these are consistently met.
After gaining on-the-job experience, taking (on a rotating basis) individual responsibility for planning a week’s online updates to the IDS Employment Law Handbooks or an issue of the IDS Employment Law Brief journal.
Participating in fortnightly team management meetings and monthly whole team meetings.
Developing relationships with third parties with a view to improving content through third party insights into law or practice.
Helping with the development of IDS product offerings and devising of relevant business strategy.
Supporting marketing and sales and all other parts of the business to help formulate and deliver business objectives.
Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues in relation to writing and maintaining content and answering questions from customers and internal stakeholders.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of IDS Senior Editor if your background includes:
Excellent academic credentials.
Substantial experience of advising on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters gained from significant post-qualification experience in employment law practice or the equivalent.
Outstanding writing, editing and communication skills.
Comprehensive understanding of practical implications of employment law developments.
Experience in efficiently producing well-written practical legal content of a nature that will be relevant for publication and/or teaching.
Experienced in working to deadlines and ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
Excellent attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and excellent knowledge of online research databases.
