About the Role
In this opportunity as Tech Financing Reporter – Level 1 Journalist (Technology Correspondent), you will:
Master source-based reporting and writing; understand financial terms, GP-LP relationships, venture capital fundraising and investing process, and IPOs; ability read companies’ finances from financial statements.
Produce clean, concise, and compelling copy under tight deadline pressure, with the ability to write deep, thoughtful feature stories that make complex tech financing topics understandable both to industry insiders and a wide-ranging audience alike.
Break exclusive news that rivals must follow; report aggressively to identify who will shape the future of the technology industry.
Uncover the impact of foreign capital in funding tech companies in the U.S., and how American VCs invest aboard.
Develop a wide range of sources in the venture capital, startup and tech financing communities; demonstrate beat expertise and dominance.
Appear on Reuters TV, Reuters events, podcasts and across social media platforms to explain the latest tech financing trends.
Obtain an inside look into venture capital communities across the country, from Silicon Valley to New York, from Austin to Miami.
Develop a wide range of sources in the venture capital, startups and tech financing communities.

About You
You're a fit for the role of Tech Financing Reporter – Level 1 Journalist (Technology Correspondent) if your background includes:
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Journalism Business and Economics Reporting or a closely related field, plus 2 years of work experience as a Reporter or related position.
2 years’ experience reporting on the tech and finance at a major news organization.
2 years’ track record of publishing exclusive stories that have major impact, including moving the stock market, or helping shape policymaking on the tech industry.
2 years’ experience with authoritative voice on how venture capital works and the technologies it funds, with experience as speakers and panelists at major tech conferences.
2 years’ experience with multimedia storytelling skills with on-camera experience.
Must be able to spend 20 to 30 % travel time to Silicon Valley, source building and conference coverage, and to attend meetings and workshops in San Francisco Bay Area.
