Reuters is looking for an ambitious and passionate journalist who thrives on big scoops to be part of its U.S. deals team and report on mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sectors. The successful candidate, who will be based in New York or San Francisco, will consistently break market-moving news on major deals involving the biggest tech companies in corporate America, such as Amazon, Netflix, Facebook and Apple, and collaborate with other deal reporters across the world to go deep into a sector that has witnessed some of the largest mergers in history and is now under heavy regulatory scrutiny. The successful candidate will also contribute to insightful and high-impact stories alongside finance and companies reporters, taking readers inside board rooms and shedding new light on the key decision-makers. The role requires a deep understanding of how corporate executives and dealmakers operate, strong source-building and networking skills, and a relentless dedication to being first and setting the news agenda in what is arguably the most high-profile and competitive news beat in the business.
