U.S. Financial Regulation Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist)

New Posted 3 October 2022 | Washington, DC | Thomson Reuters

Reuters is looking for an experienced U.S. Financial Regulation Correspondent to cover the major financial regulators –primarily the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – as part of our broader Global Finance & Markets team. We're looking for someone with a passion for breaking news and writing quick analytical takes, as well as deeply reported stories. Based in Washington D.C., the U.S. Financial Regulation Correspondent will focus on sourcing up with regulators, lawyers, lobbyists, lawmakers and their staffers, compliance consultants, and other key industry stakeholders. The role sits within a broader team that covers banking, insurance, corporate finance, white collar crime, fintech and markets. The successful candidate will be able to deliver scoops and insightful enterprising stories on a range of regulation and policy issuers– from the SEC’s new climate disclosure rule, to the CFPB’s crackdown on bank junk fees and Congress’ latest stab at cryptocurrency legislation. They will also work closely with other reporters across the team to cover key intersectional stories, such as how regulations are preventing banks from launching cryptocurrency products and climate risks into their annual stress tests.
