Reuters Video News is looking for dynamic and talented Video Journalist/Cameraperson, based in Washington DC. Combining your strong shooting and field-reporting background, you'll be key to ensuring our success in one of the most dynamic news patches in the world. In this position, you'll work closely with colleagues specializing in video, stills and text. Working both collaboratively and autonomously, you'll be responsible for shooting, writing, planning, and covering news and feature stories, while coordinating closely with our broader news teams based in Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and New York City.
About the Role
In this opportunity as Video Journalist/Cameraperson, you will:
Produce, edit, write, and deliver compelling and creative video stories and live coverage on breaking news stories.
Coordinate daily and planned news coverage, working closely with colleagues based in LA, NY, and DC.
Work closely with multimedia and video packaging teams to produce comprehensive reporting (we edit using Premiere), whilst responding quickly to major breaking news events, in a responsible manner.
Represent television internally and externally, building a strong understanding of both Reuters' local and international clients.
Work autonomously in sometimes pressurized situations. This position may also include working long hours (including some weekend shifts).
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Video Journalist/Cameraperson at Reuters if you have:
Demonstrable experience as a professional Video Journalist.
Exceptional camera skills using broadcast-quality video camera or DSLR
A track record of working with multimedia and video packaging teams.
Experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production.
Excellent skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters' editorial principles.
Understanding needs of broadcast and digital clients, regionally and internationally.
Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice.
