Staff Editor, Opinion Culture

Times Opinion is looking for a Staff Editor to join its Culture vertical. In this position, you will take a lead role in ensuring that Opinion's coverage of race, identity and intersectionality is expansive, proactive and thoughtful. You have expertise and experience covering these topics, and you will help to define Opinion’s approach to identity and its role in global culture and society. You are expected to work independently, exercising strong news judgment and editorial discretion; and you may handle high-profile or lengthy projects. You will manage a shifting roster of regular and contributing writers, and you’re expected to constantly be on the lookout for new voices, ideas and perspectives to bring to Opinion. You will work closely with editors in other verticals, as well as journalists on the design, photo, video, audio, and graphics teams. And you will engage deeply with audience editors, every day and throughout each story’s process, to frame and package this coverage most effectively for reader engagement. This position reports to the Culture vertical editor.
