This reporter will monitor the workings of city government and schools but will focus on breaking exclusive news and developing impactful enterprise relevant to readers who live in suburbs such as 70,000-resident West Des Moines and 26,000-resident Waukee, regularly rated as the fastest-growing sizable city in Iowa. Coverage will encompass everything from school crowding to increasing traffic congestion to which retailers are planning new stores. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team. This reporter will work with reporters who cover the city of Des Moines and other suburbs to produce team enterprise about life in the metro and government accountability investigations. Source development is critical to the beat. This reporter will cultivate relationships with city, county and school officials, business leaders and community stakeholders.
