The Afternoon News Editoris responsible for delivering daily local news coverage to a broadcast and digital audience each afternoon. This includes production of newscastsand interviewsas well as news content on social media and the website.This is a lead position within the newsroom and requires a skilled editorwith strong news judgment who can work closely with the All Things Consideredhost to initiate fresh news coveragefor an afternoon audience. The Afternoon News Editor will work with reporters and producers across the newsroom to edit news stories and assign daily news. The editor will also be part of a news leadership team that helps plan and direct coverage and long-term projects.A mastery of a variety of skills is required, including editing, broadcast and digital writing and reporting, recording, mixing, photography,headline writing, digital design, and social media.
