Editor, News & Trending, Verywell Health
About Your Role:
Verywell Health, one of the largest health information sites on the internet, is seeking an Editor, News & Trending to join our family of health and editorial enthusiasts. If you are a digitally-savvy teammate who is dialed into what’s happening in the overall health community – then this is the role for you!
As a part of our collaborative team, you will edit our trending health articles, recruit and manage freelance writers, and work on content initiatives with the editorial team to help grow traffic. This role will report to the news team’s Senior Editor.

About Your Contributions:
- Ideate, pitch, assign and edit high-quality, timely digital trending health content to drive growth through SEO, Google Discover, and other developing outlets.
- Recruit freelancers and assign stories that bring new perspectives and voices to the brand, using contributors from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
- Monitor news outlets and social media feeds to keep a pulse on what’s happening in the health space, including scientific studies, drug news, and wellness trends
- Collaborate with social media, email and SEO teams to support news and trending content needs on those channels.
- Use analytics and research tools to monitor performance for trending stories and adjust editorial strategy accordingly.
- Participate in other editorial projects as needed.
About You:
- 3-5 years of experience developing online editorial content and working with content management systems, including 2 years of experience editing freelance writers
- Must have experience with health and wellness content and understand specific nuances surrounding sourcing and credibility
- Expertise in social listening and monitoring for trends, as well as understanding data on performance
- Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of what works on the web
- Experience with high-volume editorial production; agile and resourceful, always looking for clever solutions that help the team meet goals.
- Experience managing editorial projects, communicating with stakeholders in many departments within and outside of the organization.
- Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs, all the while keeping the Verywell voice in mind
- Familiarity with SEO best practices
- Familiarity with AP style
- Skilled at translating confusing health language into consumer-friendly, engaging copy
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Degree in journalism preferred.

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 Remote US: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
