CUMULUS MEDIA (Dallas, TX) is looking for its next Morning Editor. If news runs in your blood, if you get an adrenaline rush from breaking stories, if you are hands-on, and you realize the commitment that it takes to win from you and your team, then this job could be for you. Candidates must be well read, and able to relate to a 35-64 yr. old adult and know what stories appeal to and resonate with them. Our ideal candidate should possess an extremely good work ethic and have a history of news department success as a morning news editor. You must be a great interviewer, be curious, be a self-starter, and be highly organized with the ability to work exceptionally well in a team environment and be a great judge of content. Key Responsibilities

Review new stories for spelling errors, wrong out cues on cuts, and wrong lockouts on each station.
Scan Twitter/Facebook and websites of other media outlets to determine what everyone is leading with.
Check the Newsboss news folder from the day before to see if stories can be re-purposed for the morning.
Voice 6-8 (total) stories on 3-4 different topics (you can do 2 versions of each story) and write a reader for each story.
Write a headline package with up to six headlines (different from the stories you have voiced) This must be saved in Newsboss by 4 a.m. to be used by the music stations.
The morning after a major event/speech and create a cut sheet of the audio for the morning shows to play back.
During a major breaking news event, book guests that can go live on both stations.
Make sure all breaking news, and traffic stories are posted and have been sent out to databases through push notifications and through text groove.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

Highly organized and excellent time management skills
Audio production skills required.
Familiar with FCC rules and regulations and EAS guidelines
Proficient in using computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, News Boss, Adobe Audition or other audio editing programs.
Familiar with audio mixers and remote monitoring systems for radio transmissions
Available to be on-call as needed and for emergency wall-to-wall coverage.
Have a keen sense of knowing the stories that appeal to and resonate with Adults 35-64.
Strong understanding of digital and social media.
