GBH’s Children’s and Youth Media & Education Department is responsible for developing, producing, and supervising television productions, digital content, and associated educational resources for children, youth, and families.
Produced and broadcast by GBH, High School Quiz Show® is an Emmy award-winning academic competition for high school students in Massachusetts, hosted by Billy Costa. The 16-episode series is taped at GBH with a live studio audience and is distributed on a range of platforms, including television, YouTube, Facebook, and social media (i.e., Instagram, X, and TikTok). High School Quiz Show is entering its 15th Season!
JOB OVERVIEW
The ability to provide in-person support and to work over two consecutive taping weekends at GBH are requirements for this position.
Under the supervision of, and working closely with, the Executive Producer of the series, the Producer plays a central role in the successful coordination and execution of cross-platform production for the series. The Producer works with the Executive Producer and departments across GBH to develop and complete all aspects of the production: schedules, scripts, design, school coordination and outreach, and all other elements affecting the format, substance, and style of the televised broadcast, YouTube and streaming channels, the series website, and social media.
Candidates for this position must have previous experience as a producer (3+ years) and the demonstrated ability to balance multiple assignments from development through completion on deadline and within budget. A strong working knowledge of television and media production (i.e., studio, field, digital) and proficiency in creating, editing, and posting YouTube, website, and social media content is required. Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work within a fast-paced environment effectively and efficiently with composure and grace. Candidates must also be committed to upholding a tradition of integrity and inclusion, and of fair gameplay.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in close collaboration with GBH departments supporting the program (i.e., Production Services, Creative, Marketing, Education, Business, Legal, etc.).
Play a key role in supervising and executing the Super Sunday qualifying event for schools across the Commonwealth on Sunday, November 5th, 2023.
Assist in school outreach efforts, including the school registration, qualification, and bracketing process.
Play a central role in all aspects of studio-based production for the series (Taping dates: January 20 &21 and 27 & 28, 2024).
Produce and post content for YouTube, the website, and occasionally social media.
Coordinate picture, audio, and video question review and acquisition process; book, facilitate, and oversee shoots for sponsors and celebrities as required.
Develop and manage production and post production schedules; manage associated deliverables and review processes (e.g., scripts, designs, schedules, credits, etc.).
Track and, when necessary, support social media content and campaigns.
Tee up the post-production phase, including program packaging, promos, and sponsor compliance.
Supervise interns.
Facilitate ongoing media shutdown process.
Occasionally assist in the development and/or production of Youth Media projects as assigned.
SKILL SET
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Studio production experience (control room experience desirable).
Active and adept on a range of popular social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, X, Tik Tok and YouTube.
Design/video/photo editing.
Strong working knowledge of design programs (i.e., Canva, Photoshop, Premiere).
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to support and promote an inclusive working environment and to cultivate strong and productive working relationships with internal and external clients.
Must be proactive, professional, and able to multitask.
Experience, or willingness to learn, media production shutdown and compliance.
Experience working with youth and young adults preferred.
Must be highly proficient with Mac and Google platforms.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Three years of related experience
