Wick Communications is looking for a managing editor to lead the Madison Daily Leader in South Dakota. In this position, you’ll oversee all newsgathering for the Daily Leader, a pillar of the community with roots going back to the 1880s.
Today, the Madison Daily Leader has a growing digital audience and connects with readers through email newsletters, social media, mobile apps and regular print publications.
Successful candidates will have a history of producing quality journalism in both print and digital.
We’re looking for someone living in, or willing to relocate to Madison.
Duties include overseeing the newsroom's two reporters, coaching and developing the reporters, contributing original content and editing daily news coverage for online and print publication. The managing editor will also work with designers for the print layout.
The managing editor will also build community engagement through regular outreach and events.
Qualifications:
Excellent editing skills
5+ years of journalism experience
Experience leading a news team
Social media management, newsletter writing or multimedia editing are pluses
Living in, or willing to relocate to Madison.
