Digital Senior Editor
Wine Enthusiast is looking for a Digital Senior Editor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has experience reporting and editing in the drinks space, plus proven acumen in digital content strategy. The Senior Editor assists the Digital Managing Editor in the day-to-day management of editorial production, including lineup planning and assigning and editing stories, plus assisting with content initiatives for podcast, video and social media. The person in this role must be a nimble editor who can work under tight deadlines without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Responsibilities include:
Help ensure all digital content meets Wine Enthusiast's publishing standards for tone and accuracy
Ideate and pitch story ideas for onsite, social media and SEO that deliver on brand growth goals and initiatives
Utilize digital tools like Semrush, Google Trends and Google Analytics to effectively optimize content, source story ideas and review past content performance
Edit and publish 3-5 articles per day (a mix of news and evergreen)
Monitor and pitch trending beverage industry news daily
Create and manage a stable of freelance contributors
Write and report as needed
Appear on camera and audio as needed for social media, video and podcast
Represent Wine Enthusiast at events as needed
Reports To: Digital Managing Editor
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
Professional Experience: 5+ years digital media editing experience
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in journalism preferred
5+ years of editorial experience at a digital media company, with a focus on food and drinks lifestyle
Excellent editing skills, on both a micro and macro level, with experience crafting narrative
Strong familiarity with implementing SEO best practices, including keyword research, headline optimization and using analytic tools to gauge performance
Experience working with a team of writers
Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced digital environment
Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Experience publishing a high volume of content in a CMS
Superior SEO knowledge and experience with content maintenance
A familiarity with the Wine Enthusiast brand and how our content compares to that of other wine and drinks focused sites
The ability to proactively prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously within time constraints and with strong attention to detail
Existing knowledge or a desire to learn about wine
Technical Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite
Wordpress or similar content management system
Google Drive
Google Analytics
Semrush or similar keyword research tool
