News 3 Now/WISC-TV/Channel3000.com, Southern Wisconsin’s leading station and digital source for news, is looking for an experienced meteorologist to join our weather team. The right candidate will be an experienced on-air weathercaster who can convey viewer-driven forecasts effectively. They will be part of building and executing audience strategy to help keep our viewers safe, including during severe weather, when the ability to convey life-saving information quickly and coherently is critical. We expect any meteorologist who joins our team to have strong forecasting skills, as we hold the WeatheRate Seal for Most Accurate Forecast in Madison. They’ll also understand the critical importance weather plays in our newscasts and on our digital platforms.
News 3 Now produces more than 40 hours of television news a week, and we embrace coverage through our news and weather mobile apps, social platforms, website, and streaming video channels resulting in a digital stronghold in the market. The right candidate will innovate on all our digital and social channels. We expect our coverage to meet consumers where they are and connect with them conveniently.

What you’ll do:
Be an active participant in the tone and direction of our weather department in areas including, but not limited to:
Weather content development, on-air and on digital platforms
Team dynamics and culture
Graphic and branding development
Prepare and deliver urgent, compelling weather forecasts driven by impact to the consumer that connects with viewers across all platforms.
Aggressively handle severe and disruptive weather coverage with a priority on clarity and urgency.
Innovate and experiment with the latest technology on-air and digital. That includes OTT platforms, Max Reality, and social live-streaming.
Be passionate about community events and involvement, showing you know how to listen to the interests and needs of our viewers.
What you’ll bring:
An open mind and a passion for accurate forecasting that serves our community
Polished on-air performance and the ability to communicate a message clearly
BA/BS in meteorology and at least 3 years experience as an on-air broadcast meteorologist
A positive attitude and the ability to work with a talented team of meteorologists
Flexibility in schedule to be able to cover severe weather when it approaches our area
Experience with WSI and Max Reality is a plus
A valid driver’s license and good driving record
