With Intelligence is seeking a news reporter to cover hedge funds for our global data-led business information platform. The London-based role will give the reporter the opportunity to cover the European hedge fund market at a time of rapid technological innovation, a reorientation of investor demand and upheaval in financial markets. This role is about breaking exclusive stories using sources, not writing up press releases. We need someone hungry for news, who enjoys getting out and building contacts to help uncover upcoming fund launches, significant capital raising, people moves and other business shifts before anyone else.
You’ll also track the ups and downs of hedge fund performance, how different strategies and managers are doing and why. Your reporting will leverage our proprietary fund and investor data. Working as part of our team of more than 70 global asset management journalists across the globe, your reporting will provide valuable market intelligence and actionable insights to professionals and investors working on the alternative asset management industry.
Applicants should have proven journalism experience, with ability to break news and bring in scoops, or have shown outstanding initiative during internship/work placement roles. We work under a hybrid working arrangement with three days in the office and two days at home.
Responsibilities:
* Break daily market intelligence about hedge fund activity, investment decisions and performance, using source networks and data-driven analysis
* Build relationships among hedge funds and investors by working sources, arranging in-person meetings, and attending industry events
* Coordinating news coverage with data research teams around the globe
* Stay on top of wider financial industry trends impacting the hedge fund sector
