The Worcester Telegram & Gazette/telegram.com is looking for an engagement editor to join our team in New England's second-largest city.

The engagement editor will work with reporters -- including our high-engagement, audience-driving breaking news, trending, growth and development and emerging audiences reporters -- to conceive, execute and optimize stories with high reader interest.

The editor will work to expand our social media presence, including with Instagram, and will also produce quick turnaround stories of their own. They will take part in daily planning meetings to determine coverage priorities and approaches.

The position requires strong understanding of audience metrics and the principles of search engine optimization. The successful candidate will be a collaborative worker who is capable of balancing multiple tasks, and able to quickly change direction as events and audience demands require.

Required Work Experience, Training, And Education

Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or equivalent in experience and education.
1-3 years of experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.
Must have required skills - social media, advanced storytelling, advanced analytical ability, interpersonal skills, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of reporting ethics and sourcing
This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen, motor vehicle record check and background check.
