We’re looking for a versatile writer who can think critically and bring fresh creativity to integrated marketing campaigns and programs. The candidate must also be extremely detail-oriented, solution-focused, and able to collaborate effectively internally and externally.
Overview
The Writer/Copywriter at Merritt Group works on the development, creation, and execution of all content in support of our clients’ marketing, programmatic, and sales goals. They will produce a mix of short- and long-form editorial and marketing content, as well as other writing activities that reflect and forward Merritt Group’s business and that of our clients. And, like all Merritt Groupers, they have an insatiable curiosity and interest in technology and marketing.
Key Functions
Writing/copywriting:
The writer will produce a wide range of short-form, long-form, and marketing copy, which may include blogs, eBooks, bylined articles, web pages, social media posts, digital and print ads, and video scripts. It is essential that Merritt Group writers produce SEO-optimized copy to support our clients’ business goals.
To gather information, the writer may conduct sourcing calls with client subject matter experts and do independent research to find and apply relevant details.
All Merritt Group writers must demonstrate excellent language proficiency and knowledge of AP style as well as the ability to write in the unique style and voice of each client, with minimal editing required
Writers need to have a working understanding of SEO best practices, to ensure website and other online content is optimized for search.
To ensure client satisfaction, writers must adhere to each account’s editorial calendar and assignment timelines. Writers work as part of our account teams and interact professionally and effectively with team members and clients.
Content Strategy:
The writer supports the content strategy developed for each client by taking a data-driven approach to content topic creation and ideation to ensure content will resonate. This requires our writers to have a basic understanding of content strategy best practices, tactics, and tools.
Agency content services:
Our writers contribute to MG content programs, which may include internal marketing efforts, blog posts, podcasts, and industry reports.
Industry domain knowledge:
Merritt Group supports a culture of learning. While part of the requirement for the position is a solid understanding of the domains in which we operate, we encourage everyone to expand their knowledge of trends and technologies across B2B/B2G tech industries.
Agency Operations:

2+ yrs writing experience
BA in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, English or related
A track record of writing a variety of B2B or B2G marketing materials on technology topics
Writing portfolio required
Preferred Experience & Education
Prior marketing agency experience and/or internship
