Writers Wanted (Consumer Goods, Technology, Marketing, etc.) | 12 cents per word

New Posted 28 October 2022 | Remote | GROW ATOM

If you're interested in writing nonfiction articles for $0.12 USD per word, keep reading. We're a small-but-growing content marketing agency looking to bring on 2-3 new freelancers to expand our team.

THE WORK
We have clients across several industries including consumer goods, technology, and marketing. Most of what we write is long-form blog posts of around 2,000 words. Our biggest need right now is long-form pieces on data management, like ERP integration and ELT / ETL workflows. If that’s gibberish to you, no worries—we’ll get you up to speed quickly. But if you have experience working in or writing about these fields, please let us know. Right now we’re only looking for writers who can commit to at least one 2,000-word piece per week.

QUICK DETAILS:
- This is a freelance contractor role.
- This is ongoing work. Many freelancers on our team have been with us for years.
- This is a remote position with a flexible schedule.
- For each article, you’ll get a content brief that includes an overview of the topic, an SEO keyword report, and more.
- Everyone has an equal opportunity, and we’re happy to accommodate persons with disabilities.

AND SOME PERKS OF WORKING WITH US:
- You’ll get paid twice per month!
- Your rate will be adjusted for inflation every year.
- You’ll get quarterly bonuses as part of our profit-sharing program.
- Also, we try to be a great place to work generally.

HOW TO APPLY, Our Process Is Simple:
- Send a direct message or chat request. In your message:Share links to 3-4 of your best pieces or an online portfolio
- Let us know if you have experience with data integration
- We’ll reply to all messages. If your portfolio looks good, we'll assign a paid test piece (also at 12¢ per word).
- As soon as you get the piece back to us, we'll pay you via PayPal.
- For those we decide to move forward with, we’ll schedule a call and set you up for ongoing work.

FOR MORE DETAILS, SEE THE Q&A BELOW.
- What’s the payment structure? We pay a flat rate calculated at $0.12 USD per word. For example, we pay $240 for a 2,000-word article, even if the final draft is a little over or under the exact word count.
- How do you pay? We'll use PayPal for the test piece. For ongoing work, we prefer ACH bank deposit (no fees!) but can also use PayPal, Wise, and a few other platforms.
- How often do you pay? We'll pay for the test piece as soon as we receive it. For ongoing work, we pay twice a month on the 10th and 25th.
- Who owns the test article? All test pieces will be work-to-hire. In other words, we’ll legally own the piece and its exclusive publishing rights.
- Where do you hire from? Anywhere. We're a US-based company, but our team is based around the world. (At this point most of our team is outside the US, actually.)
- What capacity are you looking for? At least one long-form piece (2,000 words) per week. Of course, we’re flexible for when you’re traveling and the like, just let us know ahead of time!
- What’s the typical turnaround time? We work really hard to assign pieces at least a week before they’re due (seven calendar days). It’s sometimes more than that, and on rare occasions may be slightly less.
- Are pieces ghostwritten? It depends on the client but in general, yes. You’ll need to sign an NDA as part of our onboarding process, meaning you won’t be able to share what you’ve written.
- How do you assign work? We prepare briefs on upcoming articles and assign them to writers best suited for the topic. There may also be opportunities for additional work beyond one piece per week.
- What software do you use? We use Google Workspace, Grammarly, Clearscope, Asana, Notion, and Slack. If you know these tools, great! If not, we'll teach you!
- What writing quality do you look for? Check out the posts on major sites like Zapier, Intuit, Salesforce, or WooCommerce. That'll give you a general idea of the quality we're looking for. (We've been published on each of those sites.)
- What's the editing process? We have an editor carefully review every piece before it goes live. We may send the first few pieces back for revisions, but it will happen relatively infrequently once you get the hang of things.
- What can I do to stand out? Found the overachiever. ;) High-quality portfolio pieces, fast turnaround time on the test piece, and friendly and professional communication!
