County Government/Schools Reporter
YachatsNews is seeking a reporter committed to local news and all that it entails.
YachatsNews is a five-year-old local news website that transitioned to a 501c3 nonprofit in 2022. It covers news in Lincoln County, Ore. with a full-time reporter, a founding editor with 50 years of reporting and editing experience (and a Pulitzer Prize in 2007), and with the help of a handful of local freelance writers and news partners from across Oregon.
Now we want to add another reporter to our team.

YachatsNews is now seeking to add a full-time reporter to cover Lincoln County government, a countywide school district, families/youth/homeless issues and then report and write daily stories and enterprise and investigative work off those beats -- all the big and small things associated with impeccable beat coverage.
Salary: $45,000 to $52,000 a year, depending on experience; yearly cost-of-living raise; yearly step increase based on performance;
Benefits: Company paid health insurance premiums up to $500 a month; standard paid holidays time off; two weeks vacation to start; mileage, supplies and cell phone reimbursement;
Where: This position requires a move to Lincoln County, preferably to the county seat of Newport. The reporter would work out of their home/office.
Start date: January 2024
