A Little About You
We are looking for a Finance reporter with the strongest reporting skills -- someone who relishes breaking business and economic news. We're looking for someone who is an obsessive cultivator of sources and is always trying to dig below the surface to get to the real story. You will have extensive experience reporting on Canadian and global markets and the economy, and be able to tell complex financial stories in an imaginative, entertaining, and engaging way.
This role will also see you partner with other Yahoo Finance editorial teams around the world - particularly the US and UK - to share your content, ideas and expertise.
Responsibilities:
Report financial stories that add real value to the news and will engage readers online.
Report and write stories about the Canadian economy, and general market coverage.
Report and write stories that people want to share.
Develop innovative ways to tell stories, using the latest technology platforms.
Represent Yahoo Finance at live events and conferences
Do the kind of in-depth reporting projects that will garner Yahoo Finance awards and other industry accolades.
Assist in the use of data analytics to understand Yahoo Finance's audience and interpret that data to inform editorial strategy -- particularly when it comes to SEO and reaching new audiences.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with a journalism or digital media background
Excellent knowledge of financial markets and passion for the field of financial and economic reporting
The ability to report competitively and accurately
The ability to write clearly
The ability to work collegially and collaboratively with members of the team
The highest ethical standards

The compensation for this position ranges from $67,500.00 - $112,500.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
