The BDO ESG Awards recognises outstanding companies that have made a positive impact in the areas of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG). Every listed company in Hong Kong has been required to disclose its ESG information annually since 2016. BDO in Hong Kong, the member firm of one of the world’s five largest accountancy networks, has conducted a desktop survey and reviewed ESG disclosures of 500 companies listed on both the Main Board and GEM. The third-year ESG reports have demonstrated little improvements in certain indicators, yet the result of the survey is still far from satisfactory in overall disclosure and ESG practices in tackling the climate-related issues.
