Today's manufacturing facilities are designed for the mass production of identical goods. Although manufacturing systems often have a certain flexibility, they are not completely changeable. Instead, changes are associated with high costs. Convertible production, on the other hand, allows manufacturers to react more quickly to changing demand and to produce small batch sizes efficiently.
Digital twins describe all relevant assets in Industry 4.0 production and support changeable production. The factory of the future is also constantly learning with AI and its production is climate-neutral. CO2 neutrality is one of the current megatrends.
