Asset management is based upon consistent organizational processes to enable an organization to make the right investment decisions to realize value while managing risk and opportunity. For many utilities, the pandemic has highlighted the need for asset management to support changes in investment planning in order to manage risk during major events in the present, as well as the need to prepare for the future.
Other challenges – such as climate change, alternate technology development, and alternative industry paradigms – loom on the horizon, and all of this is in the face of the growing investment requirements for aging utility assets. Not only will asset condition be stressed, but so will the larger organizational response. Utilities must utilize asset management to confront the changes in risk due to these challenges, ensure they continue to realize value from their assets, and make the right investment decisions. The conference will focus on utility experiences, helping attendees learn how to move their asset management response from reactive to leading edge.
Technology and asset management will be highlighted at the conference, focusing on how technology will drive changes to asset management itself and how technology changes in the world and utility will drive changes to risk and value assessments, thereby requiring changes to investment plans.
