The event is a spin-off of the FIN/SUM conference, which focused on fintech and its uses. Often described as the "Internet of value," blockchain forms the core of such distributed financial technology as crypto-assets, digital currencies and security tokens. But even as independent decentralized financial technologies spread, there has been little discussion on international rules and regulations for governing them.

Regulatory authorities from governments around the world agree on the need for engaging with a wide range of stakeholders in addressing such issues as security, privacy and traceability. With that in mind, the conference will aim to build the foundation for unbiased debate among the various stakeholders to promote a deeper mutual understanding and enhance cooperation toward achieving “multi-stakeholder governance” in a decentralized financial system.

Blockchain technology is no longer limited to the world of finance; it has expanded to other fields such as international trade, supply chains and logistics. This conference will showcase examples of these newer applications. It will also broaden debate about ongoing efforts to use the technology -- and the issues that have arisen in the process -- by examining existing and potential business models.

The event will include a diverse range of international participants, including blockchain engineers, researchers, business operators, consumers and regulatory officials. Through the exchange of views on global rules and governance, the event will seek to find solutions to issues confronting new applications for the technology.
