Between 2016 and 2020, carbon emissions from the global energy sector increased by 0.9% per year. As such, the next decade is critical to achieving net-zero global emissions by 2050. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance BNEF's Global New Energy Market Outlook, in order to keep emissions reductions on track and limit warming to 1.75°C, emissions will need to be reduced to 30% below 2019 levels by 2030, which is equivalent to an annual A decrease of 3.2%. To achieve the goal of net-zero global emissions, all sectors of the energy economy need to completely eliminate emissions by mid-century and accelerate the use of existing mitigation technologies now and at an unprecedented level.
At the same time, the new technology needs to be commercialized and piloted to expand the scope of the pilot, laying the foundation for large-scale rollout by 2030. Hydrogen energy, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and new nuclear energy technologies have not yet become the mainstay of emission reductions, but the large-scale application of these technologies is a key task of this decade.
We sincerely invite you to participate in the 2022 BNEF Zero Carbon Forum jointly organized by Bloomberg New Energy Finance BNEF and Taiwan's Chung-Hwa Institute of Economic Research, to discuss with industry leaders and experts the prospect of cutting-edge energy technologies such as hydrogen and ammonia under the global net-zero trend, and their Implications and Implications for Taiwan's Future Net Zero Path.
