This events returns for the second year as a face-to-face event, themed by ‘Revitalize the prosperity of construction industry’, as the region is calling for an initiative to ‘Design for Future, Build for Life.’ The conference will stand on the point of QS whilst exploring wider in the field by orienting the event name from ’QS to Construction’, hopefully to inspire more potentialities in the scope.
It is one of the most important pillars to Hong Kong’s economy, with a total employment of nearly five hundred thousand. The productivity of the construction industry is crucial to Hong Kong's economic growth and long-term development and to improve the livelihood of people.
With the development of digitalization, as well as the new challenges and requirements generated by the internal and external environment, the role of the quantity surveyor in the construction industry has also been more enriched and deeply redefined in the iterative process. This includes not only the traditional concepts of measurement, cost and value management, bidding management, contract management and evaluation, final accounts but also project management, project financing (private finance initiative (PFI) / public-private partnership (PPP), international engineering construction and facilities management, ESG with sustainable development, dispute resolution, legal risks and environment and other professional advisory services. All these changes are undoubtedly built to meet the new needs of customers and thus enhance market competitiveness.
For the uncertain future, the main responsibility of quantity surveyors will be more reflected in how to deal with changes, adapt to development, and effectively face.
