Implementation of China’s Futures and Derivatives Law marks a big step in the development of China’s derivatives market. As well as providing a comprehensive framework for the trading, clearing and settlement of futures and over-the-counter derivatives, it also provides legal protection for the enforceability of close-out netting for the first time. With the legislation in place, China’s derivatives market is entering a new era. Featuring both onshore and offshore institutions, this event will explore the essential role that derivatives play in supporting economic growth, as well as best practices in derivatives trading and risk management, with the aim contributing to the development of a safe, robust and efficient derivatives market in China.
The implementation of the "Futures and Derivatives Law of the People's Republic of China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Futures and Derivatives Law" or "the Law") marks a major step forward in the development of China's derivatives market. In addition to providing a comprehensive framework for the trading, clearing and settlement of futures and over-the-counter derivatives, it also provides, for the first time, legal protection for the enforceability of termination netting. With the introduction and further implementation of this law, China's derivatives market will usher in a new chapter of development. This event invites different types of institutions in the onshore and offshore markets to share the international market's experience in infrastructure construction and best practices in derivatives trading and risk management, and discuss the support of the derivatives market in the context of China's economic transformation and deepening opening up role and development opportunities, in order to provide a certain reference for Chinese authorities and market participants to build a more vibrant, stable and safe derivatives market.
