Banks, asset managers, brokers and other financial firms are faced with unprecedented levels of cyber intrusion. The perpetrators are hacktivists, malicious insiders, small-time criminals, major criminal gangs and governments. Their methods include spear-phishing, malware and ransomware, distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks and advanced persistent threats (APTs). Their objectives range from data theft, fraud and network disruption, to industrial espionage and sabotage of critical national infrastructure.
