The IFR Asia Green Bond Roundtable will take place on the morning of Tuesday July 11 2017 at the Thomson Reuters Building in Hong Kong.
Now in its third year, the event will focus on the rapid development of Green financing in Asia and how market participants can bring this promising product into the mainstream.
Climate change commitments from 197 countries in Paris at the end of 2015 have given the global Green Bond market a top-down boost, as governments around the world look to private investors to share the burden of carbon reduction. In Asia, China is leading the charge with massive volumes of climate-aligned issuance in both the onshore and offshore markets, but issuers from India to Australia have also embraced the format.
IFR will convene an expert panel to debate how Asia’s Green Bond market can progress to the next stage, moving beyond a policy-led market and making sustainable development a key consideration for the region’s borrowers and investors. The roundtable will also review the core features of this growing market and map the likely issuance and investor landscape in 2017 and beyond.
