With several Australian businesses forced to write down the value of their intangible assets after concerns were raised by ASIC, a company’s valuation of their assets in all areas of the business has become increasingly important in our new knowledge based economy.

This year music streaming service Spotify were able to record a market value of $26.3 billion, despite their balance sheets only reflecting $US90 million, while Tesla valued their intangible assets at $US782.74 million last quarter. These companies, also deemed as digital disruptors, are currently setting the standard in the valuation of their intangible assets.

For many businesses, intangible assets can account for 87% of a company’s total market value. Understanding how these assets, such as brand recognition, intellectual property and coding, play into the valuation of a company is critical for directors.

It is for this reason IQPC is proud to launch the 2018 Intangible Asset Management Summit. Held in Sydney, this conference will bring together entrepreneurs, government bodies and established business professionals. It is here we will break down how businesses can recognise and value their intangible assets and adapt to the new knowledge based economy.

Key discussion points will include:

• Understanding the new knowledge economy and how intangible assets fit within the current business landscape
• Identifying different frameworks to measuring intangible assets to find the one best suited for your business
• Evaluating and aligning intangible assets for investment and monetary gain
