• We will discuss practices and techniques on improving your credit union’s risk management assessments, internal control structure, and board governance following COSO guidelines, NCUA internal control guidelines, and the AICPA auditing standards. NCUA has issued many letters to credit unions regarding risks and internal controls. We will highlight some of the recent risk guidelines from NCUA.
• The effectiveness of a SERP looks at both the meaningfulness of the plan to the executive and the appropriateness of the plan for the credit union, while optimizing the financial impact of the plan for both parties. During this session, we will share what you should include in an RFP as well as recommendations as to what you should do each year to adhere to best practices of the NCUA and IRS guidelines
• We will discuss what we are seeing as the current trends in executive compensation including base pay, variable pay, long term incentive plans and supplemental executive retirement plans. We will also discuss the variety of approaches boards are taking to design the right total compensation package for their CEO and executive team.
