Operational Technology – or simply OT – refers to systems that control material in production and supply. But the underlying technology is often outdated, and neither user interfaces nor APIs are further intuitive or standardized. This potentially makes the integration task quite demanding.
On this day, we therefore focus on the primary differences between OT and IT. As well as dealing with how you will be able to integrate OT effectively against the company's other core digital solutions such as e.g. ERP, production, customer and logistics management.
This is an important step in the effort to make central information and data from production available, operational, analyzable and easily understandable for both customers and the business.
But when you integrate business systems against OT, you also risk exposing production to the Internet and making it more vulnerable to cyber attacks. Therefore, there is also a need to think about security from day one and take a closer look at both best practice and hear about other companies' experiences in integrating OT and IT.
You'll get that out of it:
• Overview of which types of attacks particularly affect production,
• Insights into why OT is so tempting to cybercriminals.
• Insight into how the cybercriminals with targeted and relatively simple attacks on e.g. generators or boilers can shut down production facilities for several days?
• Inspiration for how to ensure that your integration towards OT is sufficiently stable and resilient to function in interaction with the overall IT infrastructure.
• Inspiration for how you in the IT department can best, easiest and safest be able to modernize and optimize production despite 20-30 years behind in technology.
