One of the newer sections added to Regulation E is the topic of Remittance Transfers. Remittance Transfers are payments sent from the United States to other countries. These are transactions commonly known as “international wires”. “international money transfers”, “international ACH” or “remittances” and they have specific requirements that financial institutions must comply with. Recent updates to the regulation have reduced some of the regulatory burden to make remittance transfers more attractive to community banks and credit unions.
