Because of their conservative nature, it’s becoming more challenging for insurance companies to find alpha in an environment that has turned from low-yield to negative-yield on the back of geopolitical tensions, market volatilities, and quantitative easing. Risk-based capital regulations are being implemented or modernised in different parts of Asia, together with updated international financial reporting standards, forcing insurers to find ways to adjust their investment strategies, and adding stress to role of the CIO.
The 7th Insurance Investment Forum will convene CIOs and senior investment professionals to discuss these issues, as well as how insurers can solve asset-liability mismatch, mitigate the gap between real and target returns of their return-guaranteed products and how they can use technology to optimise their investment process.
