The FDIC’s Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection holds a Consumer Research Symposium every fall at its facilities in Arlington, Virginia. The goal of the symposium is to facilitate discussion of recent research on consumers’ capabilities, knowledge, preferences, and experiences in markets for financial products and services, as well as the effects of public policy interventions and new regulations on consumers, households, communities, and financial institutions. The symposium is typically attended by a diverse audience from academia, government agencies, nonprofit agencies, and industry.
