The sixth Euromoney Asian covered bond forum in Singapore next March comes at a time of exciting developments for covered bonds in Asia. Join us with issuers, prospective issuers, investors and regulators to discuss the challenges and opportunities that this will create.

The Singaporean covered bond market continues to go from strength to strength, but when will we start to see the development of a domestic market for the product?

Singapore has also been leading the global discussion on mutual recognition of covered bond regimes, which should open up opportunities with European investors as the covered bond directive introduces the concept into law for the first time. What are the implications for issuer behaviour? And for the development of covered bond markets throughout Asia?

We will look at Japanese covered bonds and explore the new financing techniques being developed by issuers in Japan to unlock the vast potential in the domestic mortgage market.

In Korea, will the Financial Services Commission’s recently announced initiative to stimulate covered bond issuance and the forthcoming changes in risk weights for the product create real growth in the market? How will non-Korean investors price the new bonds?

New countries are expected to see covered bond issuance for the first time in the near future. How will investors approach new structures? And issuance from less well rated countries?

As the need for housing finance in many countries in the region grows, What lessons can new jurisdictions looking at the instrument for the first time take from these developments? And from global developments in the product?

Join us in Singapore in March to discuss these questions and to explore the latest fundamental developments in the Asian covered bond market.
