The World In: 2018 gala dinner will showcase the sounds, sights, smells and tastes of 2018, all through the lens of The Economist’s unique wit and clarity.

The evening will start with an experiential cocktail reception. Imagine dining on Putin’s caviar puddings, Sturgeon’s salmon blinis, and Trump’s mini baloney burgers. Wash it down with the finest cocktails: fancy an Erdogan ‘swinging sultan’, a Le Pen ‘French blonde’, or a Duterte ‘fierce pinay’? Join The Economist’s Asia columnist for Q&A under our own banyan tree.

The gala dinner will see Daniel Franklin, executive editor of The Economist, interview selected high-level speakers on the future of sport, science or culture in 2018. Whisky or wine tasting will showcase 2018’s best casks and vintages, and KAL will return to set the satirical scene for 2018.
