The UNC Tax Summit is a continuing education event for accountants and lawyers to earn CPE and CLE credits. Nine knowledgeable speakers will discuss local, state, and federal tax policy issues and their legal implications, in addition to a session devoted to professional responsibility/ethics. A networking lunch will be held at the historic DuBose House and a reception will take place after the event. Accountants will be able to earn 9.6 CPE credits and lawyers will be able to earn 8 CLE credits.

Participants will:

• Gain awareness of recently enacted North Carolina income tax legislation and consider the effect of these changes on corporate entities, flow-through entitities or individual tax filers.
• Recognize how to efficiently incorporate retirement accounts into an estate plan and identify related challenges and opportunities.
• Gain awareness of recently proposed regulations intended to clarify certain changes under the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act.
• Review recent history in state finances and examine state tax policy actions in response to strong collections, federal assistance, and a murky US economic outlook.
• Learn about the most significant statutory enactments, judicial decisions, IRS rulings, and Treasury regulations promulgated druing the last twelve months that affect general domestic income taxation, corporate taxation, partnership taxation, and tax procedure.
