In 2010, Alex Pezold founded TokenEx with a vision of creating the most secure, nonintrusive, and flexible data security solution on the market. Prior to founding TokenEx, Alex earned a master’s degree in computer science and information security through the CyberCorps program at the University of Tulsa. While working as a qualified security assessor with the PCI SSC, Alex first recognized the potential of cloud tokenization. This inspired him to use it as a scope- and risk-reducing technology to protect data in an increasingly privacy-focused world.
"In the cybersecurity space, we've often seen that the government will take the lead. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a good illustration, which helped establish the cybersecurity standards and framework that then trickled down to private sector organizations.
Along those lines, we encourage customers and other businesses not to wait until something is mandated - there are solutions, like tokenization, available now to proactively mount a strong security posture. Since most organizations are using a combination of vendors and technologies to assist with digital operations, ensuring responsible information-sharing makes it possible for intrusions or other malicious activities to be promptly identified and addressed.
So, government action isn't necessarily surprising - in fact, it's expected. The effort is meant to move everyone toward the prevention of cybercrime and data breaches. But regardless of whether such measures are required by law, we believe that protecting and securing sensitive enterprise data is a best practice that can help businesses, government agencies or contractors to establish greater customer trust."
