ChatGPT skills are creating job opportunities for people from all walks of life, not just for a small group of tech industry veterans. While some jobs may be eliminated or compensation reduced, I would predict we’ll also see entirely new jobs emerge and pay increase. Job seekers who surf this wave by acquiring ChatGPT and other AI skills will be well positioned for the future.
Be data-driven. If you let the data play hardball for you, then you can afford to be very polite and respectful when you have the discussion [on salary negotiations]. Once you've established the gap between your value on the job market and your current compensation, make your ask very specific and clear. Don't just leave it up to your employer to guess what compensation will make you happy. Spell it out for them in specific numbers and terms.
