Chelsea Keutmann began her fishing career at the tender age of 3 days old. A 4th generation fisherman - and a 3rd generation female fisherman - from Petersburg, Alaska, Chelsea literally grew up on a fishing boat. Commercial fishing isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life. At 18 years old, and after many years as a deckhand, Chelsea found her way to captain of her own vessel and crew. Sea to Shore Seafood is a fisherman owned and operated company that combines a passion for fishing with a passion for truly sustainable seafood that supports a healthy fishery and marine ecosystem.
Fishing location: Stephens Passage, North of Petersburg Alaska
Products sold: She harvests and sells halibut, rock fish and pacific cod.
Name, build and length vessel: F/V Eric, 38’ Thermodyne
What Chelsea loves best about being on the water:
I love the freedom. I love being out of cell phone reception range. The fresh air, the whales, the birds, watching otters and sealions play. At times, the rest of your worries can just drift away and disappear. You are disconnected from the regular hustle and bustle of everyday life, and really are able to connect with the beauty of nature.
"We highlight the importance of each fisherman’s unique story and giving consumers the chance to get to know their fishermen."
