David is President and Chief Executive Officer of Coast BioVentures, a life sciences investment fund with a focus on emerging growth companies in the biopharmaceutical industry. In parallel, he is a managing partner with Cardiff Advisory LLC, a strategic and financial advisory firm focused on mergers, acquisitions, and partnering transactions with life science and healthcare companies. Previously, David served as Managing Director for Objective Capital Partners, LLC driving Objective’s practice in the same practice domains, and currently serves in a senior advisory capacity with his former firm.
David currently serves in leading roles on the Boards of Directors for Histogen, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSTO) as Board Chairman and Chair of Audit, and the California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) as a member of the Executive Committee. He is a limited partner with a leading life sciences venture fund, Mesa Verde Venture Partners, and a member of Corporate Directors Forum and BIOCOM. David is also a contributing author for PharmaBoardroom.com and Forbes.com through his work with Forbes Los Angeles Business Council.
David holds FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses and is a Registered Investment Banking Representative of BA Securities LLC, Member FINRA SIPC. He holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree with a finance concentration from Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Management. Additionally, he holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree in Biophysics and a Masters of Science (MS) Degree in Oncology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Biology/ Pre-Med from Canisius College.
David balances his career with philanthropy and family. He is active in numerous philanthropic organizations including the Association for Corporate Growth San Diego, the Alzheimer’s Association of San Diego/ Imperial Counties, PEERS, and Student Success Programs for the Charter School of San Diego. David and his beloved wife, Heidi, have two children and reside in Cardiff by the Sea. They enjoy giving generously of their time, talent, and treasure to causes affiliated with higher education, wildlife conservation, women and business empowerment, youth development, family homelessness, and dementia.
