A SOLID BASE
Growing up on the southside of Chicago, Gray learned the value of partnership early on by playing sports with kids from all different socioeconomic backgrounds. He learned the value of respect and mastered the art of helping others work together to meet a common goal. These lessons extended to include the power of food as he was introduced to health foods at an early age. Gray’s mother was a pioneer in natural medicine in the 1970s, leveraging Eastern medicine as it pertains to cancer research. While other kids munched down Captain Crunch, Gray was sipping on homemade green smoothies.

NOURISHING COLLABORATION
When Gray became the CEO of GreenSeed Contract Packaging, one of the goals he outlined for the company was to change the way the world sees food, and in turn, change the world through better eating. The first step in achieving this goal was to develop a "value chain," his alternative to a supply chain, which creates whole systems solutions to connect like-minded companies for the greater good, enabling everyone to grow together. In collaboration with other globally recognized leaders in the supply chain, GreenSeed works to ensure long-term success for social, environmental, and economic sustainability.

“Our value chain is a collaborative ecosystem where supply chain partners collectively care about social impact,” states Gray.

INCLUSIVITY & EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Gray applies the same inclusive philosophy to employee development. Each employee is a performance consultant and has a seat at the table. And with 80% of U.S. revenue being service-based, and only 20% makers based, Gray, views his team as smart manufacturers with a vision to drive growth. He has built a corporate culture where everybody matters.

“Understanding others and having a global mindset builds bridges,” states Gray.

EXTENDING IMPACT TO CREATE CHANGE
Gray plays many roles in the wellness and natural foods industry. He is on the Board of Directors at FedUp Foods, a forward-thinking fermented beverage manufacturer on the fringe of the food industry. He has also worked with Verte Sante Venture Partners, a consulting and investment platform for CBD, to advance the thought process of how food tech meets the consumer, taking an initiative to strategize better decisions to drive business growth.

SUSTAINABILITY
Gray is passionate about enacting global change that will influence behaviors and transform the packaging industry. GreenSeed invests in many organizations that are at the forefront of advancing technology to develop sustainable packaging solutions. Their work with OSC2 and RCD has culminated in progressive research about how to eliminate waste by reducing single-use plastic use to care for our planet.
