Humble Beginning as Single Mom to National Real Estate Expert
If you looked up empowerment in the dictionary, you might find Doris Phillips. On her own at an early age, Doris was a single mom at 16 working three jobs to pay the bills. In her mid-20s she had to decide between paying the power bill or getting her GED and chose education. Doris cleaned offices and filed papers, living paycheck to paycheck without many opportunities. A title company gave her a chance as a file clerk and she worked her way up through the ranks. Doris now owns her own title insurance company and is COO at Lake Homes Realty.
Through hard work, perseverance, and a can-do attitude Doris is a true success story:
• A licensed real estate broker in 7 states and a licensed real estate title insurer in 4 states.
• Sole owner of RealSource, a multi-state real estate title insurance agency.
• COO and Director of National Brokerage Operations for Lake Homes Realty.
• Founder of The Circle of Love Foundation, which has provided meaningful Christmas toys and back-to-school supplies to thousands of children living in shelters and/or poverty. https://vimeo.com/483104181
She was named to Birmingham's Top 50 over 50 and featured in national real estate magazines, Good Housekeeping, and MSNBC.com. Additionally, she was named one of Alabama’s "Business Women to Watch." More importantly to her, she serves and empowers others. She is excited when a single mother on her staff can now buy her first home. She develops leaders, both female and male.
