Dr. Lawson's research areas and specializations include population genetics and phylogeographic patterns in eastern newts, amphibian metapopulations in the George Washington National Forest, amphibian communities in constructed, and natural vernal ponds. He holds a B.S. in Geology from University of Illinois, Urbana; M.S. in Geology from University of Arizona, Tucson; and a Ph. D. in Biology, University of Illinois, Urbana.
