Professor Justin Clardy's research focuses on normative questions that arise within the contexts of interpersonal relationships and political theories. Within that context, he has special interests in questions about social justice and emotions such as love, sympathy, compassion, and tenderness. Professor Clardy holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas and his recent publications have investigated the intersection of love & race, and has largely focused on both the ethicality of non-monogamous relationship styles and the unjust political consequences for non-monogamists. His work has appeared in Hypatia, The Journal of Black Sexuality and Relationships, Analize: Journal of Gender and Feminist Studies, as well as a number of books of which he has contributed chapters. Justin has also appeared as an expert in various mainstream media outlets including ABC Network's The Tamron Hall Show. He enjoys teaching courses in philosophy of race, ethics, and the philosophy of emotions--especially, the philosophy of sex and love. Before joining Santa Clara, Professor Clardy was a Thinking Matters Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.
